Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Obesity and diabetes mellitus are among the most critical global public health challenges, with rapidly increasing prevalence across all age groups and strong associations with premature mortality, reduced quality of life, and substantial healthcare costs. These conditions are characterized by complex metabolic dysregulation, chronic low-grade inflammation, oxidative stress, and cardiovascular dysfunction, underscoring the urgent need for comprehensive and integrative strategies for prevention and treatment.
In this context, nutrition and regular physical activity remain central pillars in the management and prevention of obesity and diabetes, exerting beneficial effects on glycemic control, body composition, insulin sensitivity, and cardiometabolic health. In addition to conventional dietary approaches, emerging nutritional strategies, including personalized nutrition, dietary patterns, functional foods, and nutritional supplementation have shown promise in modulating metabolic pathways and improving clinical outcomes. Furthermore, alternative and complementary therapies such as heat therapy, multidisciplinary and lifestyle-based interventions, mind–body practices, and other non-pharmacological approaches are gaining increasing attention as adjunctive tools in the management of chronic metabolic diseases.
This Special Issue, entitled “The Role of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Alternative Therapies in Diabetes and Obesity”, aims to gather high-quality scientific evidence addressing the independent and synergistic effects of these interventions. We welcome a broad range of manuscript types, including original research, narrative reviews, systematic reviews, scoping reviews, meta-analyses, and translational studies, focusing on clinical, metabolic, molecular, and functional outcomes related to obesity and diabetes.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nutrients is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
