Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Metal-based nanocatalysts are fundamental to modern catalysis due to their unique physicochemical properties, tunable surface structures, high catalytic activity, and broad applicability in energy, environmental, and chemical transformation processes. By precisely controlling particle size, morphology, composition, support interaction, and electronic structure, metal-based nanocatalysts offer unprecedented opportunities to enhance reaction efficiency, selectivity, and stability under mild and sustainable conditions.

This Special Issue, “Metal-Based Nanocatalysts: Synthesis, Properties and Applications”, aims to present recent advances in the rational design, controlled synthesis, structural characterization, property regulation, and practical applications of metal-based nanocatalytic materials. We welcome original research articles, communications, and review papers focusing on, but not limited to, noble metal nanocatalysts, transition metal catalysts, alloy and bimetallic nanostructures, single-atom catalysts, metal oxides, metal–organic framework-derived catalysts, and supported or hybrid catalytic systems.

Topics of interest include innovative synthetic strategies, structure–activity relationships, surface and interface engineering, catalytic mechanisms, in situ/operando characterization, theoretical modeling, and applications in photocatalysis, electrocatalysis, thermocatalysis, biomass conversion, CO2 reduction, hydrogen production, fuel cells, pollutant degradation, and fine chemical synthesis. Contributions addressing catalyst stability, recyclability, scalability, and green synthesis are particularly encouraged.

As the Guest Editor, I hope this Special Issue will bring together cutting-edge research from scientists working in materials chemistry, nanotechnology, catalysis, energy conversion, and environmental science. Through this collection, we aim to deepen the understanding of metal-based nanocatalysts and promote their development toward efficient, sustainable, and industrially relevant catalytic processes.

We invite researchers from across the world to submit their latest findings and perspectives to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
