Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanomaterials have become a cornerstone of modern optoelectronics, driving transformative advances in photovoltaics, sensing, displays, and beyond. Over the past few decades, the emergence of nanomaterials—from quantum dots and two-dimensional nanosheets to other emerging systems (e.g., perovskites, MXenes, van der Waals heterostructures)—has unlocked unprecedented control over light–matter interactions at the nanoscale. These developments enable devices with higher efficiency, lower cost, and novel functionalities. However, challenges remain in scalable synthesis, material/device stability, degradation mechanisms, interface engineering, charge-transfer dynamics, and device integration.

This Special Issue seeks innovative contributions that advance beyond established systems and knowledge, emphasizing scalability, multifunctionality, computational design, and novel physical insights into emerging materials. We aim to highlight significant advances in nanomaterial synthesis, characterization, fundamental photophysics, and optoelectronic applications.

Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Synthesis and assembly of nanomaterials;
  • Low-dimensional nanomaterials (0D, 1D, and 2D);
  • Carbon-based nanomaterials;

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
