Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Chromatographic techniques play a key role in the analysis of complex biological and bio-related samples across a wide range of disciplines. From pharmaceutical and clinical bioanalysis to forensic investigations, environmental studies including wastewater, food-related analyses and microorganism-focused research, chromatography remains a powerful and versatile approach for separation, identification and quantification.

The growing complexity of biological systems has increased analytical challenges such as low analyte concentrations, matrix effects and sample heterogeneity. Addressing these issues requires continuous development of separation strategies, effective sample preparation, robust method optimization and reliable analytical validation. At the same time, increasing attention to sustainability has encouraged the adoption of green and environmentally conscious analytical methodologies.

Liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, supercritical fluid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis are widely applied in bio (analytical) research, frequently combined with advanced detection techniques such as mass spectrometry. Recent developments in multidimensional separations, high throughput approaches and miniaturized or microfluidic systems have further expanded the capabilities of chromatographic analysis.

In this Special Issue, bio (analytical) chromatography is interpreted broadly to include analyses of biological systems, biologically derived matrices and bio-related environmental samples. We welcome original research articles and review papers addressing chromatographic method development, validation and real-sample applications related to forensic and toxicological analysis, pharmaceutical and clinical bioanalysis, environmental and wastewater studies, food and feed matrices and microorganism-related investigations, including microbial metabolites and products.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
