Dear Colleagues,
Wearable electronics and sensory devices have rapidly transitioned from niche research areas to technologies that are increasingly shaping healthcare, human–machine interaction, robotics, and personalized monitoring. This Special Issue aims to capture the latest advances enabling the next generation of wearable systems with enhanced flexibility, stretchability and multifunctionality. We welcome contributions that address fundamental material innovations such as conductive nanomaterials, soft polymers, hybrid composites, and energy-harvesting structures as well as system-level developments including flexible circuits, skin-conformal sensors, wireless modules, and integrated microelectronic platforms. Submissions focusing on triboelectric and piezoelectric energy harvesters, physiological monitoring sensors, soft tactile interfaces, and self-powered e-skin technologies are particularly encouraged. We further welcome studies that integrate wearable devices within the Internet of Things (IoT) and the emerging Internet of Wearable Things (IoWT), facilitating connected, data-driven sensing ecosystems. Research exploring scalable manufacturing, printing techniques, durability assessment, biocompatibility, and interface engineering will play a central role in this Special Issue. Contributions addressing sustainability aspects such as eco-designed materials, recyclable components, low-impact manufacturing routes, and extended device lifetime are strongly encouraged, reflecting current priorities in advanced materials research. We also seek perspectives and reviews providing insights into emerging trends, challenges, and future directions for wearable and soft electronic systems. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art advancements and inspire new solutions for the next wave of intelligent, user-centered wearable technologies by bringing together interdisciplinary work from materials science, electronics, mechanical engineering, and biomedical applications while aligning with future needs for connected, sustainable, and IoT-enabled systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Micromachines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
