Travel Award

Dear Colleagues,

As Editor-in-Chief of Metals, I am pleased to announce the winners of the 2018 Metals Travel Award:

Daria Zhemchuzhnikova, from Université de Lorraine is a highly prolific Ph.D. student with numerous relevant projects in Materials Science and Engineering, particularly related to high strength Al-Mg- Si alloys. She is familirand skillful in the use of analytical techniques and equipment for research purposes and has presented her work in various international conferences. She has written 4 patents and possesses numerous achievements and awards. In addition, her list of publications is impressive with 20 papers already published or in the processes of being published. Therefore, I gladly congratulate Daria Zhemchuzhnikova for her outstanding performance as she truly deserves the travel award from MDPI for 2017-18 offered to Ph.D. applicants.

Martin Diehl, from Max-Planck-Institut fur Eisenforschung GmbH has been actively involved in theoretical aspects of crystal plasticity. Through is career, he has been investigating the mechanical properties of aerospace alloys and has received awards in for his work on crystal plasticity simulations and for his expertise in mechanical engineering and materials science. He is the author of over 20 articles in highly recognized journals such as the International Journal of Platicity. It is my pleasure to congratulate Martin Diehl on being the elected postdoc travel award winner from MDPI for 2017-18.
