Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues, 

One of the most important effects of COVID-19 infection is on the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular consequences of COVID-19 can extend beyond acute infection. Patients may continue to have lingering cardiopulmonary symptoms even after the acute phase of the COVID-19 infection is resolved. It is still not clear whether routine screenings to detect cardiovascular abnormality in COVID-19 patients will be helpful. Additionally, recently, after the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine, cases of myopericarditis have been reported. Though there are not enough data so far to detect the causal relationship of the vaccine and cardiovascular effect, this is a potential field for further research.

We hope to attract the following research to our Special Issue: (1) up to date data regarding the long-term effects of COVID-19 infection on the cardiovascular system; (2) use of advanced diagnostic modalities to detect cardiovascular abnormality associated with prior COVID-19 infection; (3) vaccine-related effects on the cardiovascular system

Various newer diagnostic modalities, including the use of the artificial intelligence, in diagnosing the cardiovascular abnormalities in COVID-19 have emerged. Different medications have comoe out, with promising results in COVID-19 patients; at the same time, cardiac effects of anti-COVID-19 drugs have been discussed. COVID-19 vaccines have already started changing the epidemiology of the infection, reducing the infection rate.

In this issue, we are expecting papers which will provide data about the long-term cardiovascular effects of COVID-19 infection. Additionally, we are looking for papers that can enlighten us about the potential screening guidelines to follow up with COVID-19 patients. We would like to invite authors’ views on COVID-19 vaccine-related cardiovascular effects.
