Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

For this Special Issue of Medicina entitled “New Advance in Primary and Secondary Immunodeficiencies,” we will be exploring cutting-edge research and practice changes in the field of inborn errors of immunity and immune dysregulation. This Issue is focused on providing a practical clinical framework for immunologists and other specialties within medicine and research. The field of immunodeficiency is rapidly changing with new therapies and diagnostics now available in addition to the emergence of expanding diseases being discovered. With the increasing availability and awareness of immunogenetics, targeted therapies are now possible for many inborn errors of immunity. Biologics with specific targets for immune dysregulation are enabling a more targeted approach to immune control for a quiescent disease. Furthermore, secondary immunodeficiency, particularly with regard to solid organ and hematopoietic transplantation, malignancy, and immunosuppression, is now being managed more often by the immunologist with personalized therapeutics. This issue will explore these new challenges and advantages in the field of medicine with regard to immunodeficiency.
