Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aligns with Land's scope, which emphasizes the interplay between rural development and sustainable tourism, emphasizing the role of agritourism. Faced with the contemporary challenges of territorial planning and balanced use of natural resources, agritourism presents itself as an effective tool for sustainable territorial management as proven to be a powerful tool for integrating knowledge, generating income, and preserving territories and cultural landscapes.
The growing focus on tourism must recognize the role of agriculture as a landscape-shaping agent, a food supplier for the tourism chain, and a low-scale job-generating activity supported primarily by traditional techniques. However, the abandonment of traditional agriculture raises questions about the authenticity of tourism experiences promoted as an anchor for development, and there is a general lack of territorial governance models and plans for land use that promote tourism that values agricultural activity.
The goal of this Special Issue is to collect papers (original research articles and review papers) to give insights inspiring initiatives for the development of a tourism model that values the agrarian landscape, traditional knowledge about techniques and local species, and natural and food resources endogenous to different regions of the globe. We encourage the authors to publish works that demonstrate the role of tourism plans and management of rural areas in valuing agritourism in all its dimensions, as well as studies to assess its potential for the development of low-density areas.
This Special Issue welcomes manuscripts that link the following themes:
- Valorization of the cultural landscape and endogenous agrarian cultures;
- Territorial sustainability and agroecological practices;
- The role of food production in tourism;
- Environmental education and the appreciation of rural culture;
- Rural entrepreneurship and social innovation;
- Planning and management of agritourism destinations.
- Success stories and comparative international experiences;
- Public territorial planning based on agritourism;
- Contributions of agritourism to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
We look forward to receiving your original research articles and reviews.
