Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid advancement and diffusion of artificial intelligence (AI) and technologies are fundamentally reshaping banking, financial markets, and financial management practices across both financial and non-financial institutions. AI and technology driven tools are increasingly embedded in areas such as credit assessment, risk modeling, fraud detection, asset pricing, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. Beyond the financial sector, non-financial firms are adopting AI to enhance functions such as financial planning, capital allocation, working capital management, supply-chain finance, and enterprise risk management. While these developments offer significant efficiency gains and new strategic opportunities, they also introduce novel risks related to model uncertainty, algorithmic bias, data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory oversight.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary examination of the opportunities and risks associated with AI and technology adoption in banking and financial management across industries. It seeks to bring together research that advances understanding of how AI is transforming financial intermediation, corporate financial decision-making, and risk governance in both financial institutions and non-financial firms. Particular attention will be given to implications for financial stability, corporate resilience, transparency, ethical considerations, and regulatory and supervisory frameworks.
We invite high-quality original research and review articles addressing topics including, but not limited to: AI applications in banking and corporate finance; AI-driven credit, market, operational, and enterprise risk management; AI in treasury and working capital management; fintech innovations; explainable AI and model risk management; AI and financial performance; cybersecurity and data governance; and regulatory and managerial challenges across sectors.
By fostering dialogue among academics, practitioners, and policymakers, this Special Issue aims to deepen insight into how AI can be responsibly leveraged to enhance innovation, efficiency, and resilience in financial management, while mitigating emerging risks in an increasingly data-driven economic environment.
