Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Financial markets are undergoing profound structural change driven by digitalization, data proliferation, and algorithmic decision-making. Artificial intelligence—through machine learning, natural language processing, big data analytics, and automated modeling—has become central to asset pricing, portfolio management, credit risk assessment, trading strategies, financial intermediation, and regulatory supervision.
Within this evolving landscape, sustainability considerations—such as climate risk, environmental externalities, social risk exposure, and governance quality—represent emerging financial risk factors that affect firm valuation, capital allocation, cost of capital, and long-term financial stability. Rather than treating sustainability as a standalone objective, this Special Issue examines how AI enhances the measurement, pricing, management, and supervision of sustainability-related financial risks and opportunities.
The objective is to advance rigorous theoretical, empirical, and computational research on AI applications in finance, including—but not limited to—the integration of ESG-related information into financial decision-making frameworks.
Indicative themes include the following:
- AI in asset pricing, risk modeling, and portfolio optimization;
- Machine learning applications in credit scoring and banking supervision;
- Algorithmic trading and market efficiency;
- AI-driven valuation of climate and transition risks;
- Pricing of green bonds and sustainability-linked securities;
- Financial performance implications of ESG integration;
- Executive compensation, governance metrics, and performance analytics;
- Textual analysis of financial and extra-financial disclosures;
- Fintech innovation and digital financial ecosystems;
- Financial stability risks associated with AI adoption in capital markets;
- We particularly encourage quantitative, econometric, and data-intensive research grounded in financial economics, corporate finance, banking, fintech, and accounting.
