Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that we are launching a Special Issue entitled “Advances in Precision Medicine for Gastrointestinal Cancers”.
Precision medicine aims to provide optimal treatment to each individual patient, taking into account their genetic background, environmental factors, and disease status. For this purpose, new methods for genetic testing, such as liquid biopsy and ctDNA analysis, and new modalities for diagnostic imaging are being developed. The development of new surgical and interventional techniques/devices alongside novel chemotherapeutic drugs is also progressing. Precision medicine for cancer began with breast cancer in the 1990s, but its application has since expanded to other types of cancer as well. Since the 2000s, molecular targeted drugs have shown remarkable progress. The effectiveness of immunotherapy was also recognized, leading to the significant advancement of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Recently, attempts have been made to use artificial intelligence to efficiently analyze enormous data and provide optimal treatment for each individual patient. The prognosis for unresectable gastrointestinal cancers with locally advanced disease or distant metastasis has been poor, but the development of precision medicine is expected to improve their prognosis. In this Special Issue, we call for papers that report researchers’ innovative approaches and the key challenges in this field. They may include advances in diagnostic modalities, treatment and interventional techniques and devices, and new chemotherapeutic reagents. Attempts to use artificial intelligence are also welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Personalized Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
