Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) medicine has evolved significantly due to rapid advances in diagnostic and surgical technologies. Tumors of the hepatobiliary system remain a major global health challenge, but the integration of precision diagnostics with minimally invasive and image-guided interventions is reshaping patient care. Modern diagnostics rely on high-resolution imaging such as multiphasic CT and MRI with hepatobiliary contrast agents, enabling accurate anatomical and vascular assessment for diagnosis and surgical planning. Emerging tools like radiomics and AI-driven analysis enhance lesion characterization, early cancer detection, and prediction of treatment response.

Endoscopic ultrasound combined with fine-needle aspiration or biopsy improves tissue sampling, particularly in pancreatic diseases, while genomics aids in assessing malignant potential. Molecular diagnostics, including liquid biopsy techniques such as circulating tumor DNA and exosomal biomarkers, show promise for early detection and monitoring treatment response. Minimally invasive approaches, including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery, are increasingly used in complex HPB procedures, offering reduced blood loss and faster recovery. Image-guided technologies like intraoperative ultrasound, ICG fluorescence, and augmented reality further enhance surgical precision and outcomes.

This Special Issue welcomes articles, reviews, and other types of papers focusing on the current advances in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) medicine, aiming to highlight the evolving concepts in diagnostic and surgical HPB technology, emphasizing their clinical implications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Personalized Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
