Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Children, adolescents, and their families facing physical illnesses, neuropsychiatric conditions, or experiences of maltreatment or trauma often require highly personalized psychological care. These vulnerable populations present complex and diverse needs that challenge standard clinical approaches.

Historically, interventions in clinical child psychology have tended to follow generalized models. However, recent developments in research and clinical practice highlight the importance of tailoring assessment and treatment to each child’s specific medical, psychological, and relational context.

This Special Issue aims to gather innovative contributions focused on personalized psychological interventions for minors and families living in fragile conditions, including chronic illness, neurodevelopmental or psychiatric disorders, and exposure to trauma or neglect.

We welcome articles that present new therapeutic approaches, integrative care models, interdisciplinary practices, and empirical findings supporting the personalization of treatment in high-risk pediatric populations and their families.

We invite original research articles and reviews that explore tailored assessment, intervention, and management strategies in the context of pediatric psychological fragility—particularly in relation to medical illness, neuropsychiatric disorders, abuse, and family stress.
