Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The domain of maritime engineering is continually evolving with an imperative focus on optimizing the performance and safety of ships and offshore structures. Ensuring the structural integrity, efficiency, and sustainability of vessels and installations is crucial for operational success in challenging marine environments.

This Special Issue aims to collect advanced research contributions highlighting innovations, novel methodologies, and enhancements centered around the performance, reliability, and sustainability of ships and offshore structures. It seeks to explore recent developments in the design, materials, technologies, and operational strategies that positively impact the efficiency, safety, and environmental aspects of marine vessels and offshore installations. Manuscripts presenting theoretical studies, experimental investigations, case studies, and practical applications are welcome, fostering a comprehensive understanding of optimizing the performance of ships and offshore structures in diverse marine environments.

Potential topics of interest include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Hydrodynamics and structural integrity of ships;
  • Innovations in offshore platform design and construction;
  • Advanced materials and coatings for marine applications;
  • Safety and reliability in offshore structural engineering;
  • Sustainable practices in marine transportation;
  • Dynamic positioning and control systems for offshore installations;
  • Environmental impact and pollution control in maritime industries;
  • Advances in offshore renewable energy platforms;
  • Ultimate strength analysis and enhancement in offshore structures;
  • Digitalization and smart technologies in maritime industry.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
