Clinical Advances and New Challenges in Laparoscopic Surgery

This special issue belongs to the section “Gastroenterology & Hepatopancreatobiliary Medicine“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The era of "bigger the incision bigger the surgeon" has ended and now we are in the era of minimal invasive surgery. However, with proven benefits for patients, laparoscopy and robotic surgery poses great challenges regarding costs, ergonomy, manufacturing, innovation and implementation into clinical practice. In addition, the training and learning curves are longer in minimal invasive surgery. All these aspects need a clear and proven advantage over open surgery in all fields.

The aim of this Special Issue is to showcase novel clinical advantages or disadvantages of minimal invasive surgery, novel technologies and surgical techniques to increase the benefits for the patient in every way possible.

High-impact research is vital in discovering new methods for treating patients and addressing areas that have previous not received sufficient attention or interest and for which we still lack clear solutions.

Authors are welcome to submit original articles, reports on novel treatment strategies and advances in decision-making, clinical outcome studies, comparative studies, narrative reviews, scoping reviews, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses that will contribute to better patient-oriented care.
