Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. In recent decades, survival rates in Europe have significantly improved thanks to screening programs, advances in surgery, and the development of systemic therapies. These achievements have transformed CRC from a fatal disease into a potentially curable condition for selected patients. A deeper understanding of tumor biology, heterogeneity, hereditary factors, and the tumor microenvironment has further refined clinical decision-making. This Special Issue focuses on recent progress in the diagnosis, treatment, and personalized management of colorectal cancer. Molecular profiling has driven the shift toward precision oncology, with established biomarkers, including MSI, RAS, and BRAF mutations, as well as DNA mismatch repair defects, guiding therapy selection and prognosis. Immunotherapy with PD-1 inhibitors has shown remarkable efficacy in MSI-high CRC, while combinations of chemotherapy, targeted agents, and immunotherapies are under active investigation. Equally important is integrating targeted systemic therapy with minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques, to enhance tumor control while minimizing morbidity and promoting faster recovery. Original research, reviews, and clinical studies addressing novel therapeutic strategies, mechanisms of resistance, biomarker discovery, and multidisciplinary management are encouraged for submission to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
