Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Low back pain (LBP) continues to be one of the most prevalent and disabling health conditions worldwide, representing a significant burden on individuals, healthcare systems, and societies. Despite decades of research, the complex and multifactorial etiology, as well as the diversity of patient presentations, make accurate diagnosis and effective treatment an ongoing challenge. Traditional approaches often fall short in addressing the heterogeneity of LBP, highlighting the urgent need for new perspectives and evidence-based strategies.

From an ergonomic perspective, low back pain is strongly influenced by physical, organizational, and psychosocial work factors. Prolonged static postures, repetitive lifting, awkward movements, and inadequate workstation design are known contributors to lumbar load and musculoskeletal strain. In addition, insufficient recovery time, high work demands, and psychosocial stressors can exacerbate the risk and hinder rehabilitation. Understanding the interplay between ergonomic risk factors and individual susceptibility is essential for designing effective preventive and therapeutic interventions.

This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality research and critical reviews that offer innovative ergonomic and interdisciplinary insights into the diagnosis, classification, and management of low back pain. By gathering diverse perspectives, we aim to improve outcomes for patients suffering from LBP.

We invite all expert in the field to submit their research for consideration for this Special Issue.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs).
