Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Rectal cancer is a global issue. It is increasingly common and has a huge impact on peoples’ quality of life and healthcare systems. Thankfully, technologies such as scanning, less invasive surgery, and new treatments have recently made a real difference for patients.

Despite this progress, there is still a long way to go. Many individuals lack access to proper screening or cannot receive the best treatments, especially in certain parts of the world. This is not fair and is an issue that must be addressed. We possess the knowledge and now just need to ensure that everyone can benefit from it.

We are aim to create a collection of excellent original research and reviews that address every aspect of rectal cancer. This includes everything from screening for the disease and identifying at-risk individuals to treatments and patients’ management after they finish their care. We are especially interested in exploring ways to diagnose rectal cancer through personalized treatment plans and how we can ensure patients receive the best possible outcomes.

If you have any ideas about how to treat rectal cancer or have made progress in surgery or oncology, we want to hear about it. We seek perspectives on rectal cancer and any contributions that shed new light on how to prevent, diagnose, or treat the diseases.

We welcome articles, clinical trials, reviews and meta-analyses. We are particularly interested in work that connects related fields of study or looks at the real-word application of research. We also invite studies that consider the bigger picture, such as how approaches vary around the world. The main aim here is to start a conversation between scientists and showcase knowledge that helps improve treatment for people with cancer, no matter where they are in the world.
