Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Biliary tract cancers. including cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder cancers, have long been considered rare and challenging malignancies with limited therapeutic options. However, the past decade has witnessed a paradigm shift driven by advances in molecular diagnostics, biomarker-driven therapies, immuno-oncology, and precision medicine. Increasing global awareness, earlier detection strategies, and emerging multidisciplinary treatment approaches are reshaping patient outcomes and clinical expectations.
This Special Issue aims to capture the rapidly evolving landscape of biliary cancers by bringing together cutting-edge research and expert perspectives from around the world. Topics of interest include novel systemic therapies, surgical and locoregional innovations, molecular profiling and target discovery, real-world outcomes, and collaborative care models. We particularly welcome submissions that bridge laboratory science with clinical application, highlight global disparities, or propose forward-thinking strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and survivorship.
As Guest Editor, I am a Medical Oncologist specialising in biliary tract cancers at a leading university hospital, where I also serve as Principal Investigator for major national and international cholangiocarcinoma trials. Additionally, I hold an Honorary Professorship and maintain strong academic collaborations with university-based cholangiocarcinoma research teams. It is my privilege to curate this Special Issue and foster meaningful dialogue across disciplines to accelerate progress for patients affected by these complex diseases.
We invite clinicians, researchers, and multidisciplinary experts to contribute original research articles, and reviews that reflect current challenges and future directions in this dynamic field.
