Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue, entitled “Advances in Diagnosis and Treatment for Thymic pathology”, includes information related to this current hot topic. It is well known that thymic pathology interferes with the immunobiology of myasthenia gravis (MG); therefore, thymectomy is sometimes recommended in MG patients.
Furthermore, the oncology of the thymus is heterogenous; histological classification has significantly changed and TNM staging has been introduced. However, many issues still remain open to discussion.
Multidisciplinary collaboration is essential for organizing treatment planning and optimizing outcomes. Neurologists, oncologists, pathologists, thoracic surgeons, and immunologists are all involved in this procedure.
There are many particularities in this “neglected” gland that was once considered inactive; however, it is actually related to many disorders. The medical literature has recently examined thymic pathology. Our ambition is to cover the clinical aspects of thymic pathology and enlighten potential clinicians’ misunderstanding.
