Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures worldwide, yet its complications—ranging from bile duct injury to postoperative infections and biliary leaks—remain a significant clinical challenge. Despite continuous improvements in surgical techniques and perioperative care, variability in presentation, diagnosis, and management continues to affect patient outcomes. This Special Issue, “Complications of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy: Surgical Outcomes and Clinical Challenges,” aims to provide an updated, multidisciplinary overview of these critical issues.

We invite contributions that explore clinical, technical, diagnostic, and organizational aspects related to both common and rare complications. Topics may include strategies for early recognition and management of intraoperative injuries, advances in imaging and minimally invasive repair techniques, postoperative monitoring pathways, quality improvement initiatives, and the role of team communication in preventing adverse events.

By gathering diverse perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to support surgeons and clinicians in refining practice, improving safety, and advancing evidence-based approaches to the management of complications after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
