Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Gynecologic malignancies, including mainly but not exclusively endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancer, represent a significant global health burden that is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Surgical management remains a cornerstone of treatment, playing a critical role in staging, cytoreduction, and overall disease control. In recent years, rapid technological innovation, evolving perioperative care pathways, and the integration of molecular diagnostics have transformed the landscape of gynecologic oncology surgery. These developments present both opportunities and challenges for clinicians trying to optimize oncologic outcomes while minimizing treatment-related morbidity.
Globally, there is increasing emphasis on individualized treatment strategies through multidisciplinary teams in oncology, value-based care, and the reduction in surgical complications. The implementation of structured perioperative pathways, the application of minimally invasive techniques, and the incorporation of molecular tumor profiling into clinical decision-making are reshaping surgical standards. As evidence continues to evolve, it is essential to critically evaluate emerging data and define best practices that bridge research findings with everyday clinical application.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to surgical innovation, perioperative optimization, and precision-based approaches in gynecologic oncology. We consider contributions addressing clinical and oncological outcomes, innovative research, and evidence-based surgical strategies that improve patient care and support informed decision-making in modern gynecologic oncology practice.
Topics of interest for publication include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Implementation and clinical outcomes of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols in gynecologic oncology;
- Sentinel lymph node mapping: indications, techniques, accuracy, and oncologic safety;
- Minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and robotic-assisted surgery) in gynecologic malignancies: perioperative and long-term outcomes;
- Molecular profiling and tumor classification and their impact on surgical planning and treatment individualization;
- Patient selection criteria in surgical management of advanced-stage disease.
Through a multidisciplinary and evidence-based perspective, this Special Issue seeks to contribute to the advancement of surgical standards and the development of personalized therapeutic strategies in gynecologic oncology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
