Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery is replete with opportunities for research and innovation. Rhinoplasty, perhaps the signature operation of our specialty, is mastered over a lifetime, as are many of our nuanced operations. This volume dedicates substantial space to advances in cosmetic, functional, and reconstructive approaches.  We invite papers reporting on new and time-tested approaches to rhinoplasty, rejuvenation, and reconstruction. Evidence-based reporting of outcomes, scientific research, and innovations are especially welcome.

This Special Issue invites advances in facial paralysis, facial rejuvenation, and reconstruction of congenital and acquired deformities. These challenging disorders present rare opportunities for surgeons to positively impact aesthetic, functional, and psychosocial outcomes. We invite contributions on technique and emerging technologies, as well as comprehensive reviews that can advance the field of facial plastic surgery.

We are also looking to highlight frontier areas – translational research at the leading edge of innovation, from tissue bioengineering to implantable bionics and exploratory laboratory investigations. Facial plastic surgery – from rhinoplasty to rejuvenation to reanimation – continues to be a challenging and rewarding field with endless opportunities for leveraging new technologies and translating scientific discovery into advances in clinical practice. I invite you to join us in sharing advances and proven approaches for improving surgical outcomes.
