Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Liver failure, including acute and acute-on-chronic forms, is a potentially devastating clinical syndrome that includes jaundice, hypoalbuminanemia, coagulopathy, hepatic encephalopathy, hemodynamic instability, metabolic derangements, and susceptibility to bacterial and fungal infections as components. Portal venous hypertension is an important complication, especially in the form of acute-on-chronic liver failure. Much research is currently underway with regard to advances in the understanding of the pathogenesis and management of liver failure and its complications. In this Special Issue, we welcome authors to submit papers on liver failure, including both acute and acute-on-chronic forms, in terms of both disease pathogenesis and management.
