Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neurosurgery represents a clinical specialty with considerable development in recent years. As in other fields of medicine, progress of technological advancements has led to development of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques that are increasingly implemented for the management of various disorders in the entire spectrum of neurosurgery, such as neuro-oncology, cerebrospinal fluid disorders, skull base surgery, functional, and pediatric as well as spine neurosurgery. These techniques are generally associated with minimal skin incisions, lesser intraoperative hemorrhage and tissue damage, and also demonstrate comparably lower perioperative morbidity and overall complication rates. In conjunction with conventional open techniques that remain useful in specific clinical settings, minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques represent an indispensable and valuable tool in the neurosurgeon’s armamentarium in current years.
Hence, the aim of this Special Issue is to highlight recent novelties in neurosurgery regarding the performance of minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques. Manuscripts reporting advantages, disadvantages, clinical utilizations and outcomes, complications, and even comparative investigations of established or novel minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques for various neurosurgical disorders over conventional ones are welcomed in this Special Issue.
We strongly encourage interested authors to participate in this Special Issue, providing their valuable experience in the performance of these techniques for the entire spectrum of neurosurgical ailments. Original articles, systematic and narrative/descriptive review articles are all welcome. We hope that publication of this issue will shed more light on the feasibility and efficacy of these techniques on a worldwide basis, considerably enriching available literature on this issue.
