Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to contribute to the Special Issue "Anesthesia and Pain Management for Women: 2nd Edition". (The first edition, “Anesthesia and Pain Management for Women”, is available at https://www.mdpi.com/journal/jcm/special_issues/BM2I1R2930). This Special Issue combines original research and review papers with a focus on the recent advances in anesthesia and pain management for women.

Significant gender differences exist in pain perception and management, which arise from a complex interplay of anatomical, physiological, neurological, hormonal, psychological, and other factors that influence pain propensity, analgesic responses, and clinical diagnosis. Current anesthetic and pain management strategies often fail to take these gender differences into account, and medications used for anesthesia or pain control are often not tailored for women or specific underlying conditions, resulting in suboptimal outcomes for female patients. The impact of gender on anesthesia and pain remains a topic of intense interest in the literature. Pain control and anesthetic techniques remain suboptimal in many female pathologies.

In this Special Issue, we invite you to submit your latest research papers focusing on advances in anesthetic protocols and personalized pain management strategies for female-related diseases to improve outcomes for female patients in different clinical settings.c
