Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue, "Physical Therapy in Neurorehabilitation: Innovations, Challenges and Opportunities", aims to explore the evolving role of neurorehabilitation in the treatment and recovery of individuals with neurological disorders. With a strong focus on integrating physical therapy, cognitive rehabilitation, and occupational therapy, this issue seeks to highlight cutting-edge innovations that enhance motor and cognitive recovery following conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and multiple sclerosis. It emphasizes the growing understanding that effective neurorehabilitation must address not only physical impairments but also other aspects that affect the patients’ functionality and quality of life, like neurogenic bladder, fatigue, cognitive impairment, and sexual dysfunction.

This Special Issue invites research that examines novel rehabilitation strategies such as task-specific training, virtual reality, robotics, and neuromodulation, particularly those that incorporate neurocognitive elements into physical therapy protocols. Additionally, it seeks to address current challenges in clinical implementation, access to technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
