Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Coronary artery disease (CAD) remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite advances in diagnostic modalities, revascularization techniques, and pharmacotherapy, the burden of CAD-related complications—ranging from recurrent ischemic events and heart failure to arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death—continues to be substantial. As populations age and cardiometabolic risk factors rise globally, identifying effective strategies for early detection, risk stratification, and comprehensive secondary prevention becomes increasingly critical.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, which aims to deepen our understanding of CAD-related complications and to highlight emerging evidence on secondary preventive interventions capable of improving long-term outcomes.
This Special Issue aims to provide an updated, multidisciplinary overview of clinical, interventional, imaging, and pharmacological advances relevant to CAD complications and secondary prevention.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Advanced imaging techniques for detecting CAD progression and complications;
- Mechanisms and management of post-MI complications (e.g., remodeling, heart failure);
- Recurrent ischemic events: predictors, prevention, and long-term outcomes;
- Arrhythmias associated with CAD: risk stratification and therapeutic strategies;
- Secondary prevention through pharmacologic therapy (statins, antiplatelets, PCSK9 inhibitors, etc.);
- Role of cardiac rehabilitation in long-term risk reduction;
- Novel biomarkers and precision-medicine approaches for secondary prevention;
- Impact of comorbidities (diabetes, CKD, hypertension) on CAD complications;
- Health-system strategies and implementation science for improving adherence to secondary prevention.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
