Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Bariatric surgery has evolved dramatically in recent years, becoming a cornerstone in the management of severe obesity and related metabolic disorders. Advances in minimally invasive techniques, perioperative care, and long-term patient management have significantly improved safety profiles and outcomes. Moreover, the understanding of the metabolic mechanisms underlying weight loss and remission of comorbidities such as type 2 diabetes has expanded, leading to the concept of metabolic surgery. This Special Issue, ‘Recent Advance in Bariatric Surgery’, aims to highlight cutting-edge developments in surgical procedures, patient selection, pre- and postoperative management, and long-term follow-up. It also welcomes research on emerging technologies, such as robotic-assisted surgery, enhanced recovery protocols, and endoscopic bariatric interventions. Contributions addressing psychosocial outcomes, nutritional considerations, and healthcare disparities in access to bariatric surgery are also encouraged. By bringing together original research, reviews, and clinical perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to provide an updated and comprehensive overview of the current landscape and future directions of bariatric and metabolic surgery.
