Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Following the success of its first edition, we are pleased to invite you to contribute to a Special Issue entitled “New Insights into Glaucoma: 2nd Edition”. We published 10 papers in the first edition, for more details, please visit: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/jcm/special_issues/37J4096D9E.

We are delighted to announce the launch of “New Insights into Glaucoma: 2nd Edition”, a new Special issue of the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM) dedicated to diagnosis, medical treatment, and surgical treatments including cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), trabeculectomy, and glaucoma drainage devices, among other new surgical options. In this Special Issue, we also hope to address advances in the use of artificial intelligence in glaucoma.

In recent years, great advances have been made in the diagnosis of glaucoma and its surgical approaches. However, glaucoma is still a major cause of irreversible blindness. Thus, early diagnosis with risk calculation and proper management are still important unmet needs to address.

This Special Issue covers a broad range of related topics. First, we address a novel, acceptable-cost glaucoma risk calculator to identify glaucoma patients and stratify management. Second, we attend to the absence of a clear consensus guiding minimally invasive glaucoma surgery and interventional glaucoma choices such as phacoemulsification with/without goniotomy (BANG, GATT), Hydrus, iStent inject, OMNI, and subconjunctival bleb forming procedures. Third, we explore the technical variation in conventional glaucoma surgery, including the pars plana approach of glaucoma drainage devices, Novel Retrobulbar Tube options for advanced glaucoma, etc. Finally, we discuss the research on the recent updates in artificial intelligence and glaucoma.

This Special Issue aims to share expert views on new insights into glaucoma diagnosis and management. We invite authors from all regions to submit their original research, reviews relating to these topics.

We look forward to receiving your submissions.
