Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The intricate and bidirectional relationship between diet and the interconnected Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) syndrome is a rapidly evolving area of clinical research. As obesity, diabetes, and other cardiometabolic risk factors become increasingly prevalent, understanding the role of nutrition—from prevention to management—has never been more critical. This themed issue of the Journal of Clinical Medicine invites manuscripts exploring the dietary and nutritional aspects of CKM, from foundational pathophysiology to innovative therapeutic strategies.
We seek original research, meta-analyses, and comprehensive review articles on the molecular mechanisms linking specific nutrients and dietary patterns to CKM development and progression. Topics of interest include the impact of dietary components (e.g., protein, fat, fiber, antioxidants) on systemic inflammation, oxidative stress, and gut microbiome dysbiosis, all of which are central to CKM pathophysiology.
The issue will also cover the clinical application of nutritional interventions, such as plant-based, low-protein, DASH, and Mediterranean diets, in different stages of CKM. Submissions detailing medical nutrition therapy (MNT) strategies, especially for early-stage CKM, and personalized approaches will be particularly valuable. Access to affordable high-quality nutrition is extremely important to prevent diet-influenced disease states and risk factors. Topics addressing these through policy changes will also be relevant for this themed issue. In addition, exponential technologies such as AI/ML are making a big impact in the clinical space. Manuscripts addressing these topics will be of great interest. By highlighting the latest evidence, this Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive resource for clinicians and researchers, advancing the understanding and dietary management of CKM syndrome.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
