Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Osteoporotic fractures in the elderly remain a pressing clinical and research challenge, with profound consequences for mobility, independence, and overall quality of life. Advances in orthopedic science have revealed unique fracture patterns, refined surgical techniques, and improved postoperative care pathways. Emerging evidence emphasizes the critical importance of accurate diagnosis, timely surgery when indicated, and individualized rehabilitation to maximize functional recovery.
Recent developments—including novel classification systems, innovative fixation strategies, and minimally invasive options such as balloon kyphoplasty—are enhancing outcomes while minimizing complications. At the same time, pain management and rehabilitation programs are becoming increasingly personalized, reflecting considerations such as fracture type, bone quality, and comorbid conditions.
This dynamic and evolving field offers rich opportunities for impactful research spanning biomechanics, imaging, surgical innovation, conservative treatment strategies when applicable, and long-term outcome studies.
We warmly invite clinicians and researchers to share their insights, contribute their findings, and collaborate in advancing the science and practice of osteoporotic fracture management in the elderly.
