Dear Colleagues,
Surfactants are still crucial to modern molecular science; they link organic synthesis, colloid and interface chemistry, materials development, biological systems, formulation science, and industrial applications. With a global market size of approximately 50 billion USD, surfactants play a crucial role in everyday life. Continued innovation in this field requires not only the development of new molecular architectures but also a deep understanding of how structure and properties are related. This includes aspects such as interfacial activity, self-assembly, solubility, aggregation, biodegradability, toxicity, and adaptation to real-world applications.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, “Current Research on Surfactants: Design, Synthesis, and Properties”, which will highlight recent advances in the molecular design, synthesis, characterisation, and application-driven evaluation of surfactants.
This Special Issue will focus on gaining molecular-level insight into how structural features affect physicochemical and functional properties. We welcome original research papers and reviews. Some of the topics that could be covered are ionic, non-ionic, zwitterionic, gemini, amino acid-based, bio-based, polymeric, fluorine-free, and stimuli-responsive surfactants; surfactant self-assembly; micelles, emulsions, foams, and interfacial phenomena; sustainable synthesis; structure-property relationships; formulation development; and uses in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agriculture, energy, coatings, catalysis, and environmental technologies, inter alia.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
