Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Plant systems are central to global food security, to environmental sustainability, and to the stability of ecosystems. Advancing our understanding of plant biology at the molecular, cellular, and physiological levels is essential for improving the productivity and resilience of crops under changing environmental conditions.

In recent years, nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative tool in plant science, offering unprecedented opportunities for precise monitoring, the targeted delivery of agrochemicals, the enhancement of plant growth, and the modulation of plants' responses to both biotic and abiotic stresses. In particular, nano-enabled strategies are increasingly being applied for plant disease control, agricultural pest management, and the detection and mitigation of harmful contaminants such as mycotoxins, thereby contributing to improved crop protection and food safety.

This Special Issue aims to highlight cutting-edge research on nanotechnology-driven insights into plant systems. We welcome original research articles and reviews focusing on nano-enabled diagnostics, nanoparticle-based delivery systems, and smart nanomaterials that enhance plant performance, protection, and resilience. The topics of interest include molecular mechanisms of nano–plant interactions, nano-enabled sensing technologies, pest and disease management, mycotoxin detection and control, plant nutrition, stress physiology, and sustainable crop management strategies.

Studies addressing environmental safety, risk assessment, and the practical agricultural applications of nanotechnology are particularly encouraged, supporting the development of safe-by-design and scalable solutions for sustainable agriculture and food safety.
