Advances in Porcine Viral Disease: Mechanisms of Pathogenesis and Intervention Strategies

Dear Colleagues,

Despite advances in biosecurity and vaccination, the pig industry faces continuous threats from both emerging and re‑emerging viral pathogens such as ASFV, PRRSV, PEDV, PCV‑2/3, PPV, CSFV, SADS‑CoV, FMDV, and SIV. These pathogens cause major losses due to rapid viral evolution, immune escape, and zoonotic potential. This Special Issue aims to compile cutting‑edge research on the mechanisms of porcine viral infection and associated pathogenic processes, including the following:

• Epidemiology, surveillance, and viral evolution;
• Diagnostic tools for swine viral diseases;
• Virus entry, replication, and cell/tissue tropism;
• Host–virus interplay and immune evasion;
• Pathogenic mechanisms;
• Vaccine and antiviral development;
• Small animal model development.
