Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Bone metabolism is maintained by coordinated molecular and cellular interactions among osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteocytes, chondrocytes, and vascular cells. Disruption of these regulatory networks contributes to osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, abnormal subchondral bone remodeling, and vascular calcification. However, the molecular mechanisms linking cartilage degeneration, bone remodeling, inflammation, metabolism, and vascular dysfunction remain incompletely understood. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in the molecular mechanisms controlling bone formation, bone resorption, cartilage–bone crosstalk, and skeletal tissue homeostasis. We welcome original research articles and reviews focusing on intracellular signaling pathways, transcriptional and epigenetic regulation, osteoblast–osteoclast coupling, subchondral bone remodeling, and bone–vascular interactions. Studies using cellular models, animal models, patient-derived samples, single-cell analysis, spatial biology, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, or integrated multi-omics approaches are particularly encouraged. By bringing together emerging molecular insights and translational perspectives, this Special Issue seeks to deepen our understanding of bone metabolic regulation and identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for skeletal and related systemic diseases.

Manuscript Submission Information

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
