Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Nanocarriers have become important tools in biomedical and pharmaceutical research due to their ability to improve the delivery, stability, targeting, and therapeutic performance of diverse therapeutic and diagnostic agents, including drugs, proteins, vaccines, nucleic acids, and imaging probes. Recent advances in nanomaterial design, surface engineering, and controlled release have further expanded their applications in drug delivery, gene therapy, immunotherapy, diagnostics, and precision medicine.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue, which aims to highlight recent progress and emerging strategies in nanocarrier-based biomedical and pharmaceutical applications. This topic is well aligned with the journal’s scope, as it covers interdisciplinary research at the interface of nanotechnology, pharmaceutics, biomaterials, drug delivery, and biomedical sciences.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and synthesis of nanocarriers for biomedical and pharmaceutical applications;
- Lipid nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes, micelles, inorganic nanoparticles, extracellular vesicle-inspired systems, and hybrid nanocarriers;
- Nanocarriers for drug delivery, gene delivery, vaccine delivery, immunotherapy, diagnostics, and precision medicine;
- Targeted, stimuli-responsive, and controlled-release nanocarrier systems;
- In vitro and in vivo evaluation of nanocarrier safety, biodistribution, efficacy, and translational potential;
- Nanocarriers for cancer, infectious diseases, inflammatory diseases, and regenerative medicine.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
