Molecular Insights into Skin Health and Pathology

Dear Colleagues,

Skin diseases are linked to various molecular processes governing the structure, function, and maintenance of the skin. These related underlying molecular mechanisms encompass essential aspects like skin inflammation, epidermal barrier homeostasis, cell proliferation and differentiation, and melanin production. Understanding these molecular processes is crucial for developing effective treatments and interventions for skin health and pathology. Advances in genomics, proteomics, and other molecular techniques provide new insights into the underlying mechanisms of skin health and pathology, paving the way for personalized approaches to dermatology and skincare. In the meantime, skin health and skin pathology encompass a multitude of molecular responses, which are influenced by both intrinsic and extrinsic factors such as UV or pollutant exposure. These dynamic processes are fundamental to understanding the physiopathological status of the skin.

In this Special Issue, we invite researchers and experts in the field of dermatology to submit original articles and reviews to contribute to the latest advancements in our understanding of the intricate biological processes, functions, and mechanisms underlying skin pathologies such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, allergies, skin cancer, and autoimmune skin disorders. We encourage the exploration of the complex interplay between DNA, RNA, proteins, enzymes, lipids, and small molecules in the context of both intrinsic and extrinsic factors that impact skin health and diseases. By deciphering these interactions, this Special Issue aims to highlight the evolving landscape of skin pathologies and pave the way for novel therapeutic approaches and innovative, personalized approaches to dermatology and skincare.
