Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive curated collection of research for the latest advancements in adsorption science, bridging the gap between fundamental molecular-level understanding and diverse practical applications. While adsorption phenomena are essential in macro-scale systems, their efficiency, selectivity, and fundamental behavior are governed by complex molecular interactions at the solid–gas and solid–liquid interfaces.
We invite original research and review articles that explore the mechanistic details of adsorbate–surface interactions, the design of innovative materials, and the principles underlying interfacial phenomena. The scope of this issue is intentionally broad to foster a multidisciplinary dialog, encompassing applications in environmental remediation (such as water treatment and removal of emerging contaminants), energy storage, gas separation, and biotechnology.
We particularly welcome studies that utilize computational chemistry (e.g., DFT, molecular dynamics), advanced spectroscopic techniques (in situ and operando), and rigorous kinetic or thermodynamic modeling to elucidate these molecular pathways. By integrating theoretical insights with experimental validation, this Special Issue seeks to advance the frontier of adsorption science toward sustainable technological solutions.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
