Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, posing a substantial challenge to healthcare systems despite significant advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The progression of cardiovascular disorders—including atherosclerosis, hypertension, myocardial infarction, heart failure, cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, and vascular diseases—is driven by complex and interconnected cellular and molecular mechanisms involving inflammation, oxidative stress, metabolic dysregulation, endothelial dysfunction, fibrosis, immune responses, and genetic and epigenetic alterations. A deeper understanding of these mechanisms is essential for identifying novel biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and personalized treatment strategies.
This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in the cellular and molecular mechanisms governing the progression of cardiovascular diseases and to promote the translation of mechanistic discoveries into novel biomarkers, preventive strategies, and therapeutic interventions. Contributions exploring interdisciplinary approaches, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, single-cell technologies, systems biology, artificial intelligence, and precision medicine, are particularly encouraged. We also invite studies investigating the role of intercellular communication, extracellular vesicles, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, autophagy, programmed cell death, vascular remodeling, and cardiometabolic interactions in cardiovascular disease progression.
We look forward to your valuable contributions, which will aid in advancing our understanding of cardiovascular disease pathophysiology and accelerating the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but not limited to) the following:
- Cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease progression;
- Inflammation, immunity, and immune–cardiovascular interactions;
- Endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodeling;
