Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Epigenetic modifications constitute a dynamic regulatory layer that shapes genome function without altering DNA sequences or orchestrating development, cellular identity, and disease susceptibility. This Special Issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences aims to provide a comprehensive and forward-looking forum for cutting-edge research on epigenetic mechanisms and their biological, clinical, and technological implications. We invite original research articles and authoritative reviews addressing DNA methylation, histone modifications, chromatin remodeling, non-coding RNAs, three-dimensional genome organization, and epigenetic crosstalk across scales ranging from single cells to complex tissues. Contributions exploring environmental, developmental, aging-related, and pathological drivers of epigenetic variation—including cancer, metabolic disorders, neurodegeneration, and heritable traits—are particularly encouraged. Studies leveraging innovative experimental approaches, multi-omics integration, computational modeling, and translational applications are welcome. By bringing together diverse perspectives from molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and systems biology, this Special Issue seeks to highlight emerging concepts, methodological advances, and unresolved challenges in the field. Ultimately, this collection aims to deepen our understanding of how epigenetic modifications offer new avenues for diagnostics, therapeutics, and precision medicine. We particularly welcome interdisciplinary contributions that bridge fundamental discovery and real-world impact while fostering dialogue between experimentalists, clinicians, and computational scientists worldwide.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
