Dear Colleagues,
Cytokines play a key role in regulating the immune system. Since their identification, significant progress has been made in understanding their functions and regulatory mechanisms. Cytokines are particularly relevant in autoimmune diseases, as they are crucial for understanding the pathophysiology, etiology, and development of therapeutic targets for these diseases.
Recent advances in understanding the role of cytokines in autoimmune diseases have improved our knowledge of autoimmunity and have contributed to the identification of biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets aimed at improving patients' quality of life.
The aim of this Special Issue is to explore the immune and molecular mechanisms of cytokines that impact autoimmunity and to showcase recent advances in key cytokines involved in autoimmune diseases. This topic aligns closely with the journal’s scope by addressing fundamental and translational aspects of immune regulation and disease mechanisms.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and review articles are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) organ-specific and systemic autoimmune diseases, with a focus on the role of cytokines in their pathophysiology, their use as biomarkers, their potential as therapeutic targets, or emerging roles of cytokines in autoimmunity.
