Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues:
Cancer is growing as a major public health concern worldwide as the population ages. Because cancer is a disease with various risk factors and outcomes, coordinated public health approaches involving risk reduction, early detection, and post-diagnosis care, such as therapies, are necessary to address cancer.
Reportedly, 30–50% of all cancers diagnosed could be prevented by reducing tobacco smoke exposure and other environmental carcinogens, maintaining a healthy body weight, and undergoing cancer screenings, in addition to being vaccinated. Determining innovative ways to promote people to change their behaviors and choose a healthy lifestyle will have dramatic impacts. Public health interventions should be developed to reduce the risk of developing cancer.
Because cancer is associated with high morbidity and mortality worldwide, there is an urgent need to find better cancer therapies. Treatment modalities for cancer include radiation therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormonal therapy. Although therapies against various types of cancers are developing faster than in the previous decades, they might be premature and require more knowledge of personal and public health strategies.
Many cancer risk factors and viruses also cause other diseases; therefore, emphasizing primary prevention can lead to improved health. Many strategies and interventions in the mentioned areas are specifically encouraged to reduce the global burden of cancer.
This Special Issue aims to collect contributions on the recent trends and advances in the public health field regarding cancer prevention and management. We particularly encourage the submission of interdisciplinary and multi-national collaborative research. We solicit contributions, research papers, and reviews on all topics related to this research area.
