Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This issue, “Exercise and Active Living in Diverse Environments for Health Promotion,” explores how structured exercise, habitual physical activity and improvements in physical fitness promote health, prevent disease and enhance quality of life across populations. Drawing on perspectives from exercise physiology, epidemiology and public health, it examines the mechanisms linking physical fitness to cardiometabolic health, musculoskeletal function, healthy aging, the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental well-being.

This issue also highlights how improvements in physical fitness translate into broader health outcomes across diverse populations and living environments.

Contributions may address tailored exercise interventions for different life stages, clinical conditions and risk profiles, as well as system-level strategies such as community-based programs and policy initiatives aimed at reducing health inequities. Key themes include implementation facilitators—such as accessibility, adherence and health literacy—as well as the integration of exercise and physical activity promotion into primary healthcare systems.

Overall, this issue aims to advance evidence-based strategies for active living and healthy lifestyles, providing valuable insights for researchers, practitioners and policymakers worldwide. We welcome submissions of original research articles, reviews and meta-analyses that contribute to this important and rapidly evolving field.
