Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Medicinal and aromatic plants have been widely used since ancient times by local communities in many regions of the world to treat different types of illnesses and diseases. Currently, these plants and the natural products obtained from them play an important role in modern therapeutics, because they represent a source of numerous bioactive compounds that arouse great interest in the pharmaceutical, food and agrochemical industries, due to their potential for the production of medicines, foods, natural pesticides, and antioxidants, among others.

The production of medicinal and aromatic plants involves a complex and dynamic chain which is under the influence of biotic and abiotic factors, where phytotechnical, physiological, genetic, chemical and biotechnological aspects must be considered.

This Special Issue aims to present an overview of progress and future trends in areas such as phytotechny, physiology, phytochemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology associated with the pharmacological properties of medicinal and aromatic plants, providing an update on the modern techniques used for the cultivation and management of species, and to obtain natural products from them, in natural or artificial environments.
