Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted impact of musculoskeletal and/or neuromuscular disorders on the quality of life (QOL) in older adults. We seek to gather research that enhances our understanding of how these conditions, including chronic pain in various parts of the body, affect daily activities, psychological well-being, and social participation in this population. This Issue will highlight novel assessment methods and effective interventions, encompassing physical, psychological, and multidisciplinary approaches, to improve QOL and promote independent living in older adults with chronic musculoskeletal or neuromuscular symptoms and related functional decline.

List of Topics

  • Age-related differences in clinical characteristics in chronic pain or related symptoms.
  • Relationships between neuromuscular disorders and chronic pain.
  • Impact of spinal or leg alignment on mobility-related discomfort in older adults.
  • Psychosocial factors influencing chronic pain or numbness and their assessment.
  • Biopsychosocial interventions for chronic symptoms in older adults with dementia.
  • Exercise and physical therapy strategies for improving functional capacity in older adults with MSDs or NMDs.
