Dear Colleagues,
While forestry has traditionally been a timber-harvesting practice, it is now a comprehensive discipline that is integral to a healthy planet. This Special Issue, "Sustainable Development of Forests, Woodlands and Trees" focuses on this paradigm shift, aiming to bridge theoretical conservation science with practical land use. We examine the significance of varied ecosystems—from dense timberlands to open woodlands—in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
We present cutting-edge research in precision forestry, climate-smart strategies, and circular bioeconomy innovations. We are soliciting original research, reviews, and policy studies that examine forestry’s role in sustainable development. By featuring studies on adaptive management and technology, this collection serves as a roadmap for resilient landscapes. We invite contributions illustrating the role of sustainable development in protecting biodiversity, sequestering carbon, and sustaining human life in a rapidly changing climate.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Forests is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
