Dear Colleagues,
Plantation forests play an increasingly important role in meeting the growing demand for wood while also supporting biodiversity and ecosystem services. In recent years, there has been a shift from purely production-oriented approaches toward more balanced and multifunctional forest management strategies, with increasing attention to wood quality, harvesting efficiency and landscape biodiversity.
This Special Issue aims to explore how plantation forests can simultaneously deliver wood, maintain ecological functions, and enhance resilience to environmental changes. It focuses on management practices, forest structure, and species composition that can improve both productivity and sustainability, as well as wood quality and operational performance.

It focuses on management practices, forest structure, and species composition that can improve both productivity and sustainability, including the effects on timber quality and forest machine efficiency.
Original research articles, review papers, and case studies are invited, especially those addressing practical forest management, wood production, and the ecological functioning of plantation systems, including studies on wood quality and the performance of forest operations and machinery.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Forests is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
