Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Urban forests and green spaces provide a wide range of ecological, social, and economic benefits, and are increasingly recognized as essential components of sustainable and resilient cities. In the context of rapid urbanization, climate change, and growing public health challenges, understanding the evolving roles of urban green infrastructure has become more important than ever.

This Special Issue focuses on the benefits of urban forests and green spaces from emerging trends and interdisciplinary perspectives. We invite original research articles and comprehensive reviews that examine ecosystem services, climate regulation, biodiversity conservation, human health and well-being, social equity, governance mechanisms, and planning and design strategies related to urban green spaces. Contributions that highlight methodological advances, such as spatial analysis, remote sensing, data-driven approaches, and participatory or policy-oriented frameworks, are particularly encouraged.

By bringing together perspectives from forestry, urban planning, landscape architecture, environmental science, and social sciences, this Special Issue aims to provide a forward-looking understanding of how urban forests and green spaces can support sustainable urban development and evidence-based decision-making.
